Social and ideological foundations of early Bulgarian nationalism from the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century
Abstract
The article reveals the deep social, political, economic and ideological roots of the earliest Bulgarian patriotism of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Particular attention is paid to the role and place of Paisii Hilendarski's “History of Slavonic-Bolgarskaya” as a founder and spiritual precursor of the Bulgarian national (and political) doctrine under the conditions of the Ottoman rule.
