Abstract

The supervisory activity can be defined as the ECB's sovereign activity related to the overall monitoring, assessment and inspection of supervised financial institutions, aimed at preventing or stopping infringements. It is characteristic of the ECB as a supervisory authority that it does not perform managerial functions vis-à-vis supervised financial institutions and is therefore not responsible for their activities.
