Publication History
Politics & Security was established in 2017 by the Higher School of Security and Economics, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and has been published continuously on a quarterly schedule since its founding.
Publication language
Issues published between 2017 and 2020 appeared primarily in Bulgarian. From 2021 onwards, the journal adopted English as its sole language of publication, reflecting its commitment to international scholarly engagement.
Volume and issue numbering
From 2017 to 2023, the journal used an annual volume numbering system in which each calendar year corresponded to a single volume containing four issues. Under this system, volume numbers reflected the year of publication.
Beginning in 2024, the journal adopted a cumulative sequential numbering system in which each individual issue is assigned its own volume number. This change was introduced to align with international bibliographic standards and to improve the precision of citation and metadata records.

Continuity of publication
The journal has maintained uninterrupted quarterly publication since 2017. The change in numbering convention in 2024 does not represent a break in the publication record or a relaunch of the journal. All previously published content remains accessible in the journal's archive and is preserved through the PKP Preservation Network (LOCKSS).
From Vol. 10 No. 4 (2024), the journal's operational management and publishing services are provided by ESS-Press.
